Thank God nobody told me he was there when we did the show, but in the dressing room after, someone tapped me on the shoulder and said, “Paul Newman would like to say hello,” and I don’t remember the next few seconds. He and his wife, Joanne Woodward, were there and they were the most lovely, gracious humans and said how much they enjoyed the play and my performance, and I couldn’t put real words together.
