Savannah Guthrie asked Tom Hanks to be her coanchor on a recent episode of the Today show and the actor gave a witty response when she tried to persuade him.

Tom, 68, was grilled about taking on the daytime talk show gig when he stopped by the iconic NBC Studios at Rockefeller Center in New York City. During his appearance, Tom spoke candidly about the new nature documentary series that he narrated called The Americas, which took half a decade and 180 expeditions to capture in full. Former Dateline host-turned- Today sensation Craig Melvin quickly became a fan-favorite and previously opened up about his early wake-up time and getting used to his new schedule following news he would be stepping in as Hoda Kotb ’s replacement.
