Sara Cox admits she 'hated' her 'ladette' label in the 90s as she insists 'I was never trying to be like the boys'

Sara Cox, 49, spoke out on Wednesday about the 'ladette' label she was branded with in the '90s and admitted she 'hates' the term.

The ladette culture was in full swing on the Channel 4 programme The Girlie Show hosted by Sara, Sarah, Claire, and Rachel. The BBC was thrown into turmoil when, as part of a gag, Sacha said the f word 'clear as a whistle' live on air - during a slot which was regularly listened to by kids as young as four. Elsewhere in the podcast, Sara revealed that she was blamed for Sacha Baron Cohen saying 'motherf***er' live on BBC Radio 1's Breakfast Show while in character as Ali G (pictured)
