Saoirse Ronan looks back on Ryan Gosling's 'sad' firing from The Lovely Bones over 'creative differences'

Saoirse Ronan looked back on a collaboration that never was after he original costar Ryan Gosling was fired from the 2009 supernatural drama The Lovely Bones.

The 43-year-old Blade Runner 2049 star was originally cast as the grieving father of a young girl who had been murdered, but he was later fired before filming commenced by director Peter Jackson. During her appearance Monday on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Ronan — who recently admitted that she failed a Harry Potter audition — said it was 'sad' that Gosling was fired from the film, which received mixed-to-negative reviews from critics and performed poorly at the box office. He had also complained of not getting much time to work with Jackson leading up to the start of shooting, as the director was occupied with other preparations due ot the big-budget nature of The Lovely Bones.
