Samuel L. Jackson Overcame Obstacles in Marriage With LaTanya Richardson: ‘Everybody’s Got Flaws’
Samuel L. Jackson revealed that he and his longtime wife, LaTanya Richardson Jackson, went through some highs and lows in their marriage over the years.
During an appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show in May 2023, the Piano Lesson actor recalled how his engagement to LaTanya happened. “I actually had to go and talk to her grandfather because he told her he wanted to walk down the isle before he died … and so I went and asked him for her hand,” he noted of how his wife remembers the proposal. “In the beginning, we always said the most revolutionary thing that Black people could do was stay together, raise their children with the nucleus of having a father and a mother, since everybody likes to pretend that that’s not the dynamic of the African American family.
