Sadie Sink Reflects on How Success as a Child Actor Forced Her to Grow Up 'a Little Bit Faster'

Sadie Sink opens up to PEOPLE about growing up fast in Hollywood and the bond she feels with her character in Broadway's 'John Proctor Is the Villain' — a role that earned her a 2025 Tony Award nomination for Best Leading Actress in a Play.

The 24-year-old actress is currently starring on Broadway in Kimberly Belflower's acclaimed dramedy John Proctor Is the Villain, playing Shelby Holcomb — a defiant, resilient and vulnerable teenager who uses an English class discussion of Arthur Miller's The Crucible to expose a dark secret that's the root cause of her personal pain. "Shelby has a real emotional maturity that I don't even know if she's aware of yet," says Sink — who earned a leading actress 2025 Tony Award nomination for her performance in the play — while at the theater honors' 'Meet the Nominees' press junket on Thursday, May 8. And while she has plenty of on-screen roles ahead of her, including an undisclosed part in next year's highly anticipated Spider-Man: Brand New Day opposite Tom Holland and Zendaya, Sink says she won't stay away from the stage for too long.
