Sabrina Carpenter Was Turned Down for a Role on The Conners, Whitney Cummings Says: ‘Thank God We Said No' (Exclusive)

Whitney Cummings told PEOPLE in an exclusive interview that Sabrina Carpenter was turned down for a role on ABC's 'The Conners' years ago, as she related how sometimes rejection can be a good thing.

Speaking exclusively with PEOPLE at ELLE’s Women in Hollywood Celebration on Tuesday, Nov. 19, at the Four Seasons in Beverly Hills, Calif., the comedian, 42, opened up about the biggest lessons she’s learned over the course of her career. Carpenter got her start on the Disney Channel show Girl Meets World and has since shot to fame as a singer with massive recent hits like "Espresso," "Please Please Please," and "Taste." Cummings — who welcomed her first child in December 2023 — currently hosts the Good for You Podcast, in which she interviews “guests (friends, comics, celebs, experts, weirdos)” every week.
