Rylan Clark credits The X Factor for helping him deal with homophobic abuse... but says he'd never be a talent show contestant again

Rylan Clark has spoken out about dealing with homophobic abuse online, insisting he has no reason to feel ashamed of who he is.

While Rylan - who finished in fifth place on the ninth series of The X Factor in 2012 and went on to win Celebrity Big Brother the following year - would be wary about appearing on certain reality shows again, there is one programme he would definitely sign up for. Rylan, who has presented the afternoon show for five years, said: 'I'm going to be off for a few weeks filming something very special - so the wonderful Paddy McGuinness is going to be keeping my lovely Radio 2 listeners entertained while I'm away. Last Monday, proceedings began to formerly end their marriage, with Christine hiring the no-nonsense family lawyer Catherine Bedford of top London firm, Harbottle and Lewis.
