According to the book description, RuPaul gets candid about growing up as a queer Black child in San Diego, Calif., his “complex relationship” with an absentee father and “temperamental” mother, finding his identity within the punk and drag scenes of New York City and Atlanta, battles with self-acceptance and sobriety and more. The introspective memoir also explores RuPaul’s road to fame, his Emmy-Award winning Drag Race franchise and music career. The singer, producer and host landed his breakout hit with “Supermodel (“You Better Work”)” off his debut album, Super Model of the World, released in 1993.
