RUMOR: ‘The Acolyte’ Had Soft Greenlight For Season 2 Prior To Being Cancelled

Could The Acolyte have gotten a season 2? A new rumor suggests Lucasfilm had already started work on the Star Wars series before the series was cancelled.

This reportedly recruited assembling a writers’ room for the Star Wars series back in February 2024 and starting to query directors to helm the episodes pending their availability. Along with The Acolyte not coming back for season 2, The Mandalorian is shifting to the big screen in 2026, and other shows like The Book of Boba Fett don’t have much hope for a follow-up. It’s unclear why Lucasfilm is taking this approach to Star Wars on Disney Plus, especially since they seemed so confident in giving The Acolyte a season 2 earlier this year.
