Royal Fans Compare King Charles' New Portrait to Divisive Red Painting


The British royal family released a new portrait of King Charles on Saturday, June 29, in honor of Armed Forces Day

In the photo, photographer Hugo Burnand snapped Charles sitting on a gilded green chair in his military regalia while holding onto a ceremonial sword. Prior to the death of Queen Elizabeth II, King Charles III had been the heir apparent to the British throne for seven decades. “When I showed it to him back in November, when it was sort of three-quarters done … certainly the face was done, body was sketched and the color was mostly pretty much as it was, in the end,” Yeo recalled.
