Royal Family's Boxing Day traditions explained including controversial sport

On Boxing Day, members of the Royal Family will have a quieter affair while at Sandringham House and will head outdoors to take part in their traditional, but controversial sport

King Charles and Queen Camilla will be hosting Christmas at Sandringham House this year, complete with Boxing Day traditions which involve a controversial sport. In November 2000, the late Queen was heavily criticised for her role in the sport after she was photographed wringing the neck of a wounded pheasant. On Christmas Day, members of the Royal Familly will attend a service at St. Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham, a tradition dating back to the 16th century.
