The first place finish marked the first Masters Tournament victory for McIlroy, making him just the sixth golfer in history to win the career grand slam. After finishing in a tie for 19th place at the U.S. Open at Oakmont Country Club earlier this month, McIlroy admitted his life has been a balancing act in the wake of his Masters win. Golfer Rory McIlroy offered no apologies for skipping media availabilities during each of his four rounds at the PGA Championship last month, saying he was upset that the news of his driver not conforming to tournament standards leaked to the public.
