When Ronny Chieng was writing the material for his new Netflix special “Love to Hate It” back in 2023, he included a few now prescient jokes about the MAGA movement. But back then, the idea that Donald Trump would somehow return to the White House wasn’t on anyone’s minds — so much so that he was advised to leave the jokes out. Chieng wants to make it clear, however, that “Love to Hate It” — now available on Netflix, his third stand-up special for the streamer — is not overly political.
