Since then, multiple on-air NBCU personalities including Rachel Maddow, Nicolle Wallace, Joe Scarborough, Mika Brzezinski and Chuck Todd have blasted the decision to hire former Republican National Committee chair. NBC News saw McDaniel as a way to increase the number of its pundit voices from the right, from a person with firsthand knowledge of the Republican Party that Donald Trump has dominated. We continue to be committed to the principle that we must have diverse viewpoints on our programs, and to that end, we will redouble our efforts to seek voices that represent different parts of the political spectrum.
