Roman Polanski will no longer go on trial in Los Angeles next year over the alleged rape of a minor in 1973, French news agency AFP reports. The director’s lawyer, Alexander Rufus-Isaacs, told the AFP on Tuesday that the case was “settled in the summer to the parties’ mutual satisfaction and has now been formally dismissed.” Polanski was set to face trial in August 2025. According to the suit, the plaintiff met Polanski at a party months earlier and he had invited her to dinner, gave her shots of tequila and drove her to his house, where she passed out on his bed.
