Roger Pratt Dead: Oscar-Nominated Cinematographer Was 77
A frequent collaborator of filmmaker Terry Gilliam, he also worked on 'Troy,' 'Mary Shelley's Frankenstein' and 'The Karate Kid.'
Roger Pratt, the British cinematographer best known for his work on Tim Burton ‘s Batman(1989) and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire(2005), has died. He studied at the prestigious London Film School and went on to collaborate with filmmaker Terry Gilliam across his career after the pair met on the set of Monty Python and the Holy Grail(1975) while Pratt worked as a clapper loader. “The son of a parish vicar, the church didn’t capture his career aspirations, seeing 16mm ‘fact and faith’ films did,” the BSC wrote in their tribute to Pratt.
