Roger Daltrey Receives Knighthood for Contributions to Music and Charity: ‘It’s a Wonderful Honor’

Roger Daltrey, David Beckham, and Gary Oldman were among those who received knighthood Saturday on this year’s King’s Birthday Honors list.

Steve Winwood, 10cc singer Glenn Gouldman, actress Elaine Paige and Love Island star Georgia Harrison were also among the those honored, the BBC reports. For his own contributions to the arts as the singer of the Spencer Davis Band, Traffic, and Blind Faith — as well as his own hit-making solo career — Winwood received a Member of the Order of the British Empire, putting an MBE on his name. “I am a proud upholder of British culture and values, and am extremely honored to be rewarded in this way, and wish to thank all those who made the recommendation, and those who’ve supported my music over the years.”
