Rock'n'roll legend Suzi Quatro reflects on her 50 year career as she talks crying herself to sleep and becoming a trail blazer

As she prepares to hit the road with her 60th anniversary tour legend Suzi Quatro opens up on her career - the highs, the lows and being able to handle herself in a tough industry

Now aged 74 with more than 50 million record sales under her belt, the Michigan-born singer, is set to go back on the road to celebrate outstaying many of her compatriots as she marks more than five decades in the business. Suzi released her debut album a whopping 51 years ago (Image: CAMERA PRESS/Vincent Dolman) While her rise to the top happened almost overnight, after she was spotted by producer Mickie Most while performing with her sisters in their band, Cradle — formerly The Pleasure Seekers — in 1971. Taking Mickie’s advice, Suzi left her family in Michigan and moved to England, where the music scene was very much dominated by clean-cut pop princesses rather than rock’n’roll queens.
