Robert Langdon TV Series Based On ‘The Secret of Secrets’ Ordered By Netflix From Dan Brown & Carlton Cuse

In a spirited bidding war, Netflix has landed The Secret of Secrets, based on Dan Brown's novel, from showrunner Carlton Cuse, with a series order.

In it, symbologist Robert Langdon races against ancient forces and time to rescue a missing scientist and her groundbreaking manuscript whose discoveries have the power to forever change humanity’s understanding of the mind. Three of the novels have been adapted into features starring Tom Hanks as Langdon and directed by Ron Howard, The Da Vinci Code(2006), Angels & Demons(2009) and Inferno(2016), which have grossed combined $2.24 billion worldwide (adjusted in 2025 dollars). At Netflix, the former Lost co-showrunner previously developed and served as writer, director, and showrunner (with Meredith Averill) on Locke & Key, based on the graphic novels by Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez, and was executive producer/co-showrunner alongside creator Zoe Robyn on the medical drama Pulse.
