Robert De Niro's Daughter Drena Honors Son Leandro 1 Year After His Death: 'You Made the World a Brighter Place'
Drena De Niro, the daughter of Robert De Niro, shared a touching tribute to her son Leandro around the one-year anniversary of his death on Instagram
Drena, 52, then shared more recent photos, including lines from a poem about the power of someone’s presence in a person’s life and a snap visiting her son's grave, which was adorned with several vases of flowers. A spokesperson for the NYPD's Deputy Commissioner of Public Information told PEOPLE at the time that a “male was found unconscious, unresponsive and was pronounced deceased by EMS on scene" after police received a 911 at around 2:23 p.m. on July 2, 2023. The following month, the New York City chief medical examiner's office confirmed to PEOPLE that Leandro died of an accidental drug overdose, specifically due to the "toxic effects of fentanyl, bromazolam, alprazolam, 7-aminoclonazepam, ketamine and cocaine."
