Richard Hammond 'tried everything to save his marriage for almost 18 months before he eventually accepted that it was over for good with his wife Mindy'
The former Top Gear star, 55, had been desperately trying to save his 28-year marriage until very recently, but the couple publicly announced they were splitting on Thursday.
Richard, who was driving up a hill in the Rimac Concept One electric car when he crashed last month, said previously: 'It was the very last run of the day, at the top just over the finish line it got away from me and I went over the edge.' The inventor of Richard Hammond's super car was forced to reveal the secrets of the £2 million prototype to salvage experts before the charred remains could be removed from the crash site. He added: 'Mindy [his wife], was told by the doctors that a frontal brain lobe injury would possibly lead to me having a greater propensity for obsessive compulsion and depression and paranoia.
