Replacement Judge in YSL Trial Also Recuses Herself From RICO Case
The behind-the-bench drama at the YSL trial continued Wednesday as a replacement judge has also recused herself from the proceedings.
Two days after replacing Ural Glanville, Judge Shakura L. Ingram recuses herself, citing her connection to a courthouse deputy who had an "inappropriate relationship" with a YSL defendant On Monday, July 15, 2024, the judge who has been overseeing the long-running racketeering and gang prosecution against Young Thug and others in Atlanta was removed from the case after two defendants filed motions seeking his recusal citing a meeting the judge held with prosecutors and a state witness. When a new judge is assigned, they’ll likely weigh attempts by YSL’s defense team to have the already-lengthy trial—it began in January 2023 and spent 10 months alone on jury selection—declared a mistrial.
