Real reason why Kris Marshall quit Death in Paradise as he returns for BBC spin-off


Kris Marshall caused controversy and upset viewers when he revealed why he decided to leave Death in Paradise after four years as Detective Inspector Humphrey Goodman

But as he prepares to reprise the role in a second series of the comedy drama's spin-off Beyond Paradise, the 50-year-old's reasoning for leaving the BBC show has resurfaced – causing some controversy. He told Lorraine on Good Morning Britain: "The thing is, after doing four great years on Guadeloupe, the island where we filmed Death in Paradise, I realised that I really had to get my son to school. Kris is reprising his role as DI Humphrey Goodman in a second series of spin-off Beyond Paradise (Image: BBC/Red Planet Pictures/David Appleby)"I remain genuinely remorseful for the hurt and damage this has caused and am committed to educating and expressing myself more appropriately and respectfully moving forward."
