Sure, Duffy will orchestrate an elaborate, off-the-books undercover operation that involves staging a phony daylight gun battle in a public place, resulting in three “fatalities.” She’ll detain a suspect without charges, deny him access to counsel, and cuff him to a chair for days. Everything else Kohl does impresses her boss too — particularly the way she handles Specialist Roland Gorowski (Johnathan Sousa), a family man with no criminal record whom she and Reacher arrest on suspicion of selling blueprints for a classified weapons system. When Reacher returns to the Beck house with a takeout container, cook Agnes (Helen Taylor, wonderful in this small role) gives him the stink eye but warms up when he tells her Duke is no longer with the company.
