Randy Rainbow on Writing a Letter to ‘Stupid People’ and a ‘Declaration of Cancellation’ for Himself in Satirical New Book: ‘I Tried to Make This a Cathartic Thing’

Randy Rainbow’s new book 'Low Hanging Fruit' begins with three words that set up a means to escape his current mindset: 'Dear Stupid People.'

Randy Rainbow — comedian, political satirist and musical parody performer extraordinaire — has a hilarious new book of essays out today called “ Low Hanging Fruit.” Its introductory three little words are the beginning of a letter he hopes will help him escape his current mindset: “Dear Stupid People,” or as he puts it, “how we’re feeling about everything and everyone.” His first mega hit was “ Extra Braggadocious,” a riff on “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” from “Mary Poppins” that poked fun at then presidential candidate Donald Trump with lines like “He’s super sleazy, fabricating, sexist and obnoxious, even just the thought of voting for him makes me nauseous. The original song was “The Farmer and the Cowman” from “Oklahoma!” Rainbow changed the lyrics to “The Lawyer and the Conman,” in which he, basically, stripped down all the main characters to the crudest elementary descriptions of them.
