Ralph Macchio Insisted That ‘Karate Kid: Legends’ Delay Its Release Until After ‘Cobra Kai’

The film originally was slated to arrive before the conclusion of 'Cobra Kai': "I was screaming constantly every day."

In Jonathan Entwistle’s legacy sequel, Macchio’s Daniel LaRusso is paid a visit by Jackie Chan ’s Mr. Han from 2010’s The Karate Kid, folding the former stand-alone reboot into the mothership franchise. “When [ Karate Kid: Legends] was initially slated for a December 13, 2024 release, I was screaming constantly every day: ‘This movie has to come out after [ Cobra Kai] finishes,’” Macchio shares. As for the future of Daniel LaRusso, Macchio confirms that several Cobra Kai spinoffs are in development, and it’s just a matter of time before Netflix and creators Jon Hurwitz, Josh Heald and Hayden Schlossberg decide which direction(s) to go next.
