Taxi Driver screenwriter Paul Schrader has claimed Martin Scorsese's dog bit off and ate part of his thumb in a horrifying attack.

Schrader, 77, who has collaborated with legendary director Scorsese, 81 on Raging Bull, The Last Temptation of Christ and Bringing Out The Dead, revealed to Variety that a pet Scottish Terrier had savaged his hand during a dinner meeting.
