Production Designer Daniel Taylor On Creating A Frozen Maze For HBO’s ‘True Detective: Night Country’
'True Detective: Night Country' production designer Daniel Taylor talks about how he made the show's complicated ice labyrinth.
Set in the frigid fictional town of Ennis, Alaska, the show follows officers Liz Danvers ( Jodie Foster) and Evangeline Navarro ( Kali Reis), who team up after a group of scientists vanish in the middle of the night and are then found dead with their frozen bodies entangled in the snow. TAYLOR: When I first read it, I was so blown away by the story and that I was even being associated with a show of this size and level of ambition that I had to put it down again and just maybe come back it a few days later because it was such a big thing to process like, where the fuck are we going to shoot this? There were so many fucking amazing people working on this, and the photography team of Dana Lixenberg, Jen Kinney, Mark Mahaney, Brian Adams and Todd Hido was outstanding.
