Producer Richard Perry’s 20 Biggest Billboard Hits

Producer Richard Perry’s 20 biggest hits on the Billboard Hot 100, a ranking based on actual chart performance, with commentary on each song.

Notes: The Pointer Sisters had had a few hits in the mid-’70s, but few were all that impressed when Perry announced them as the first signing to his custom label, Planet Records. The ferocious take-down of an unworthy lover paved the way for such hits as Linda Ronstadt’s “You’re No Good” and Alanis Morissette’s “You Oughta Know.” This received Grammy nods for both record and song of the year, as well as best pop vocal performance, female.
