Prince's iconic yellow Cloud 3 guitar from Purple Rain tour set to fetch up to $600k at auction
The auction house said Tuesday that the musical instrument will join the other treasures up for sale in its MUSIC ICONS auction slated for May 29-May 30.
'Our company proudly stands by our proven track record in sourcing and presenting instruments of unparalleled historical significance,' Julien's Auctions CEO David Goodman said in a statement Tuesday, 'and Prince's Cloud 3 now joins this esteemed category. Before it is sold, Prince's yellow guitar will be on exhibition from May 15-May 18 at the Musicians Hall of Fame & Museum in Nashville; and then at the Hard Rock Cafe in Times Square from May 22-May 28, according to Julien's. The auction house said it 'has been able to confirm through extensive photo matching that this is the true original and iconic Steve Jones "Sex Pistols guitar" presented to him by the band's former manager Malcolm McLaren.
