Prince William & Kate Middleton Will Not Attend Sunday’s BAFTA TV Awards; BAFTA President William To Record Video Message Instead

BAFTA TV Awards: Prince William & Kate Middleton will not attend the ceremony Sunday, coming a few weeks after Kate's cancer diagnosis.

Deadline has learned that the Duke of Cambridge, who has been the film and TV org’s president since 2010, will instead record a video message that will be played during the ceremony, for which nominees include four actors from The Crown. There had been speculation about the Duchess of Cambridge’s health since soon after she first said she was having abdominal surgery in January, on the same day that King Charles was revealed to have cancer. Other shows to have received multiple noms include Netflix’s Black Mirror and Top Boy, along with the concluding season of BBC One’s Happy Valley.
