Prince Harry lifts the lid on which member of Royal Family first branded him 'spare'

Prince Harry has always been known as the 'spare' to the heir, but now the Duke of Sussex has revealed just how he got the nickname - and it was all down to his father King Charles

While there have been many famous spares throughout history including the late Queen's father, King George VI, the word is now largely tied to Prince Harry's controversial memoir. The publication stated: "Harry's resentment of being the 'spare' is the underlying theme of his book, through chapters on his childhood, his schooling, his career as a royal and in the British Army, his relationship with his parents and brother, and his life with Meghan through courtship, wedding and marriage, to their own experience of parenthood." In other news, when Prince Harry returns to England in May, his first stop will reportedly be to visit his father, King Charles, who received a cancer diagnosis earlier this year.
