Pop icon died on Boxing Day at 54 after taking afternoon nap
Americal R&B and soul singer Teena Marie - real name Mary Christine Brockert - enjoyed a hugely successful music career before tragically passing away in December 2010
She soon became a prominent figure on the R&B and soul scene in America, having been discovered by Motown Records label boss Berry Gordy, who decided to sign Teena as a solo artist. The album included the track I'm a Sucker for Your Love, a duet between Teena and producer and singer Rick James, who had been instantly impressed with her singing. The singer earned the title Ivory Queen of Soul during her careerIn 2004, Teena suffered a tragic accident while sleeping in a hotel room.
