Pixar Boss Shoots Down Live-Action Remakes of Studio’s Movies: That ‘Sort of Bothers Me’ and ‘It’s Not Very Interesting’
Pixar's chief creative officer Pete Docter will not let the company transform films like 'Ratatouille' and 'Up' into live-action adaptations.
Docter added that making a live-action film about a rat “would be tough” because “so much of what we create only works because of the rules of the [animated] world.” Part of Pixar’s current strategy to lure audiences into theaters, Docter explained, is to “try to balance our output with more sequels.” Docter, who directed the Pixar films “Monsters, Inc.,” “Up,” “Soul” and “Inside Out,” has served as the company’s chief creative officer since 2018.
