“Stateside” arrives three weeks after “Tonight,” the lead single from her upcoming mixtape, Fancy That, which is out May 9 via Parlophone and Warner Records. She joked that Doechii “chewed” her up when performing the “Tonight” dance backstage at H&M’s inaugural music festival in Los Angeles earlier this month. I feel like that was what appealed to me, and it’s something that I wanted to take on board,” she said in her Mixmag cover story in March, adding that listening to Fatboy Slim and Groove Armada while making the project inspired “the size of the music.”
