Peep Show creators Jesse Armstrong and Sam Bain have shed light on the origins of the cult classic, as they mark 20 years since the show hit screens.
Additionally, they revealed that the original plan was to make Jeremy the owner of the Croydon flat where the duo reside, however Ian noted that the character would become even more of 'a w**ker' that he already comes across. Mark owns the flat and frequently references Jeremy's resistance to playing rent and his abuse of the home, thanks to his love of weed and reluctance to work. Sam then revealed that it was Olivia who wanted to push her character further - referencing scenes in which she is extremely drunk and vomiting in a toilet and later falls asleep in a soft play ballpit.
