‘All We Imagine As Light' opened in the U.S. on Nov 14 and handed Janus Films its largest domestic opening.
Following a historic competition win in Cannes, All We Imagine has enjoyed acclaimed bows at NYFF, London, Tokyo, Chicago, Denver, San Sebastian, Mill Valley and Sydney, to name but a few. Kapadia describes the Indian cinematic landscape as a large and diverse “self-contained system.” Local audiences aren’t so fussed with awards and acclaim out of Cannes. I want to understand where I as a filmmaker fit in the cinematic landscape of this country where it’s not always easy to distribute films like All We Imagine As Light.This is something I’ve been thinking about a lot recently.
