Paul Mescal looks downcast as he steps out in rainy New York after failing to pick up Golden Globes nomination despite his leading role in Gladiator II

Despite his leading role in Gladiator II, the actor was among the stars who was snubbed a nod for the 2025 awards.

In a recent interview with Variety, Paul argued that he was not to blame for the sudden surge in men adopting the small short look, saying: 'For the record, I don’t think I’m responsible'. The highly-anticipated sequel follows Pauls' Lucius Verus, the former heir to the Roman Empire who is forced into slavery and eventually pushed to fight in the Colosseum in an effort to restore glory. While the Oscar nominee didn't receive a nod, Gladiator II is up for an award in the Cinematic And Box Office Achievement section (pictured with Denzel Washington)
