Paul McCartney, 81, enjoys a dip in the ocean as he heads to the beach with his wife Nancy, 64, during their Easter getaway to St Barts

The hitmaker, 81, was seen heading to the beach with his spouse of 13 years, 64, before strolling into the ocean for a swim.

The guitar, a distinctively shaped Höfner bass, became synonymous with the versatile musician during his time with The Beatles and was bought while the then unknown band toured Hamburg's notorious club circuit. Sharing a photo of the guitar on X, formerly Twitter, film enthusiast Ruaidhri Guest tweeted: 'To my friends and family I inherited this item which has been returned to Paul McCartney. Theories about what happened to the instrument vary, from rumours that a thief took the bass from a closet at Abbey Road, to a story that it went missing from the basement of the Beatles Savile Row offices.
