Paul McCartney Urges Rock Hall of Fame to Induct Joe Cocker: ‘Where He Deserves to Be’

Bob Merlis shared a scanning of a Feb. 25-dated letter sent to "Rock and Rollers" from Paul McCartney pushing for Joe Cocker to be inducted.

On Monday, publicist Bob Merlis shared a scanning of a Feb. 25-dated letter from McCartney urging that the English musician be inducted into the organization. McCartney ended his note by writing: “And whilst he may not have ever lobbied to be in the Hall of Fame, I know he would be extremely happy and grateful to find himself where he deserves to be amongst such illustrious company.” Cocker is one of the more than a dozen artists who are nominated for induction this year, including Cyndi Lauper, the White Stripes, Oasis, Outkast, Billy Idol, and Maná, the first Spanish-language band to be up for the honor.
