Paul McCartney Praises Beyoncé’s ‘Killer Version’ of ‘Blackbird’: ‘I Spoke to Her on FaceTime and She Thanked Me’ for ‘Letting Her Do It’

Paul McCartney calls Beyoncé's 'Blackbird' cover on 'Cowboy Carter' a 'killer version' of the Beatles' original.

When I saw the footage on the television in the early 60s of the black girls being turned away from school, I found it shocking and I can’t believe that still in these days there are places where this kind of thing is happening right now. Opening with the beloved acoustic guitar riff, the “ Cowboy Carter ” version adds several harmonies to her vocals and is later joined by country pop artist Tanner Adell. This is not the only cover on Beyoncé’s new album; “Cowboy Carter” also includes a new version of Dolly Parton’s “Jolene” (with an updated rewrite of the country star’s lyrics and song structure).
