Written and directed by Baumane, whose previous works “Rocks In My Pockets” and “My Love Affair With Marriage” have garnered critical acclaim, “Karmic Knot” tells the multi-generational story of a tight-knit family striving to survive in Soviet-occupied Latvia from the 1970s to the early 1990s. Emma Kenney, known for her roles in “The Conners” and “Shameless,” brings her expertise in complex family dynamics to the character of Zinta, the ambitious older daughter facing down an oppressive government. Stephen Lang, whose intense performances in “Avatar” and “Don’t Breathe” have earned him worldwide recognition, voices Victors, Vizma’s father whose world views inflict painful wounds on his children.
