Parker Posey said she was 'gaslit' into thinking she 'wasn't viable' to do major Hollywood films when leaving the indie scene.
During a recent appearance on the “ Smartless ” podcast, Posey, who started her career in celebrated independent films like “Party Girl, “Dazed and Confused” and “Basquiat,” was asked if she still considers herself the “indie queen.” Posey answered that once she began being recognized in places “as cool as New York City,” she knew her indie cred was dwindling. Posey said that in the Hollywood system, she was “gaslit” into thinking she wasn’t on pace with the talent required to star in a major studio production.
