Nicholas played Rodney Trotter, the younger brother of Sir David's brash Delboy, in Only Fools and Horses from 1981 until the final special of the show in 2003. He joined the new Frasier, a 2023 revival of the classic sitcom that ran throughout the Nineties and early 2000s, after appearing alongside Kelsey in the 2019 production of Man of La Mancha in London's West End. Kelsey said that he and Nicholas “blossomed into real comrades" while appearing in the stage production, explaining that working with him was the "chief joy" of his time in London.
