I know you didn’t plan this, but how does it feel to be releasing your book at a time when we have a hostile administration that by all appearances seems to be actively trying to erase Black history, demonizing trans people and drag queens, and trying to roll back LGBTQ+ rights? No, I mean, aside from the book, it's certainly upsetting to see our current administration do things like minimize Harriet Tubman's impact as a Civil Rights leader, as a veteran, and as a conductor on the Underground Railroad. But I hope that people are wise enough to know that it's all to distract you so they can do other nefarious things, like suspend habeas corpus, or, possibly even flirting with the notion of deporting American citizens.
