Olympian Scott Hamilton broke down in tears discussing the tragic American Airlines plane crash that killed 14 young figure skaters

News broke on Wednesday, January 29, that a commercial flight traveling from Wichita, Kansas crashed into Washington, D.C.’s Potomac River after a collision with a military helicopter. During a Thursday, January 30, press conference, The Skating Club of Boston’s CEO, Doug Zeghibe, said “to the best of our knowledge, 14 skaters returning home” from the U.S. News broke on Wednesday, January 29, that the airplane, which departed from Kansas, crashed into an Army helicopter near Ronald Reagan National Airport in Washington, D.C.
