Actress Anette Bening has been slammed for saying her transgender son makes her 'more interesting.'
The Nyad actress, whose son Stephen is transgender, spoke outside the Supreme Court on Thursday during the landmark case of the United States vs. Skrmetti that will determine the future of gender-affirming care. In response, a group of transgender youth and their families, supported by the ACLU, Lambda Legal, and Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, filed a lawsuit. Bening, an Academy Award nominee for her portrayal of lesbian long-distance swimmer Diana Nyad, suggested that anyone listening to her speech who believes they have not personally encountered a transgender individual probably has.
