Noah Weiland Honors Late Dad With New Cover of Stone Temple Pilots’ ‘Sex Type Thing’
Noah Weiland, son of late Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland, has shared a new acoustic cover of STP's 'Sex Type Thing.'
The younger Weiland paired his stripped-down acoustic cover of the 1993 track with a music video that finds him wandering around town with a menacing little Chucky doll, who seems to quickly go from friend to father figure. Paired with these out-there visuals are rather poignant subtitles as Noah ponders time and grief, ultimately leading him to embrace the present and enjoy every moment with the doll before losing track of him. Last year, he released a handful of original cuts, including “Limbo,” “Twilight,” and “Time Will Tell.” The latter track notably featured previously unreleased vocals from Scott, and Noah dropped the song amidst an allegation that someone was demanding $2,000 or they’d leak an older version of the recording.
