Trump decided he has nothing to fear from a movie about his infamous relationship with Roy Cohn. And he’s mostly right.

But Trump is prone to making empty legal threats, and a lawsuit never materialized (though a $400,000 Kickstarter campaign aimed at raising funds to defend the film did). Strong also delivers one of the film’s most chilling moments as Cohn defends his role in putting Julius and Ethel Rosenberg to death for alleged Soviet espionage. Toward the end of Cohn’s life, Trump distanced himself from his former mentor and, in a moment the film dramatizes, he gives the dying man a large pair of “diamond” cuff links that turn out to be knockoffs.
